A strange, compelling and other-worldly track from Steve Jolliffe's 1982 album "Journeys out of the Body"

"4th December 1981:

I awoke almost paralysed and stepped out of my body into the second
reality without going through any of the usual vibrations. As soon as I
was out I sensed something strange. I turned slowly and standing in front
of me was a woman dressed in a hooded black cloak that covered her from
head to foot. I was strongly aware of evil, that she was evil, yet to my
surprise I felt the power to confront her. I looked directly into her face
and said 'you don't exist because I created you'. The figure immediately
began to melt and disintegrate, until she finally disappeared. I then went
downstairs and through the motions of opening doors .. although this was
unnecessary. I can remember being outside and trying to lift myself off
the ground which I found difficult.... the Earth was starting to look a
long way below me and I experienced vertigo and panic. With this I woke
up. Almost immediately I returned to sleep and stepped into the second
reality, stepping out of my physical form as easily as before. I thought I
would try and visit someone and chose Clive on the other side of the
village. It wasn't long before I found myself rushing through a dark
tunnel a few feet in diameter. I was cutting straight through the air.
Seeing the earth shooting past below me I experienced travel at an uncanny
and terrifying pace..."

  • Right this minute while I'm typing this message I'm listening to the entire 9:16 version of the song "flight and returning to the body" from the same album that this song is on. Where I'm listening right now is not the good part (before 4:50). Ok, the good part (after 4:50) just started kicking in.

I most especially love the rhythmic bounce of the one note that plays one hit in one ear and then bounces over to the other ear and plays there for 3 hits and then repeats like that for 2 minutes.

  • Way to scary for me. Like being in a drug induced state on my hospital bed again ....
