Bakersfield P.D.

Bakersfield P.D. was a smart, different and very funny show in 1993/94. This show is a lost treasure and when you can get it watch it!

Its about a half black, half italian police officer (Giancarlo Esposito) from Washington, D.C. who comes to Bakersfield, California. There he finds himself the first black cop on the
decidedly odd small town force. His partner, Wade Preston (Ron Eldard), is a TV cop show fanatic and so overwhelming happy and proud to have eventually a black partner; the desk sergeant (Brian Doyle-Murray) actually runs the department because the captain (Jack Hallett) is unable to make any decisions; and a macho cop (Chris Mulkey) is teamed with a mildly effeminate partner (Tony Plana).

In this episode Capt. Stiles and Sgt. Hampton are taken hostage by an unhappy and desperate cable employee (special guest star William H. Macy) who had embezzled a ridiculous amount of money.

For all who want to see all episodes: I bought mine from raretelevision-com. They sell one DVD with all episodes recorded from tv. The quality is like VHS and good enough to watch it on tv or pc.

This was a great sit com pure and simple. Great cast. I video taped about 4 episodes when it was broadcast on Fox tv which is amazing for such a hip sit com like Bakersfield PD on Fox network.Very glad to see other people remember and appreciate a fantastic series this was. When I ask people did you like Bakersfield PD the response is a big what? never heard of it. Thanks for sharing your clips.

The bakersfield pd had at least 2 years of hell raising from my son....as soon as he straightens up and has a kid they arrest him for something he ACTUALLY did not do..and he would be the first to say 'I did it'.... When I blog about the incident the site I blog on is shut down within 10 hours, including the Bakersfield Californian! This show downplayed their ignorance!
