A 6 cylinder GT?!? Export car?

Yes, in Europ (Belgium in this case) they where quite common. These GT's where even assembled in Belgium, and it's hard to find a GT v8 around here.

Studebaker did not offer their excellent 169.6 OHV six in US market Hawks in the 1962-1964 model years, but it was available in export models, as was the 259.2 V-8. The four 289's (210 (standard) or 225(optional)horsepower were available in 1962, with the "Jet Thrust" R-1 and "Jet Thrust Supercharged" R-2 Avanti variants added to the options list for 1963 models and the 304.5 R-3 (with Supercharger) or R-4 (no supe, but two 4-barrels) added to the menu for 1964. I think there was one R-3 Hawk.

Were these U.S. engines? I didn't know  any Hawks were ever made with a 6. When I was a kid, small town in N Idaho state, there were three Hawks around town--was a local dealer there who went T.U. when Studie folded
