The "Homage", duo for soprano and cello was commissioned by David Hong, the artistic director of the "One World Symphony", New York based ensemble. As part of ensemble's concert series it had a world premiere in 2004. Then I made a version for for violin and clarinet that was premiered by David Fulmer and Sarah Beaty from the "Second Instrumental Unit" ensemble, So the "Homage" became the "Homage I". The premiere was at the American Composers Alliance (ACA) Festival in 2008. For the "Arts in Westchester featured performers were: David Fulmer (violin) & Sean Rice (Clarinet). Host and producer was Steven Halpern. When the cycle dedicated to the great Russians: Sergey Rachmaninoff, Marina Tsvetaeva and Igor Stravinsky was written, I realized that it is a meditation on the feelings that any woman has through her life: a dream of the pure beauty (#1. Vocalise, to Sergey Rachmaninoff), the breathless expectation of the life major event and the disappointed hopes (#2. Dreams of Don Juan, to Marina Tsvetaeva) and a mix of irony and despair through the humoristic sight to what has happened (#3. Ducks Are Flying, to Igor Stravinsky).

Margarita Zelenaia's album with Byzantine Chants, sacred concerto for a Solo cello was just released on CD Baby: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/andreytchekmazov
