This is a good way to use up all of your extra/leftover floss. I use DMC brand six stranded embroidery floss purchased from Michael's Arts & Crafts (or) A.C. Moore. (NOTE: Any art store should have six stranded embroidery floss.)
■ First remover the ring from a beverage. I am using a ring from a water bottle in this video but you can use any ring you can get your hands on.
■ Gather all of your floss scraps and cut them into pieces that are about 3 inches long or make them a bit longer if you want thicker stripes. You can use random scrap colors (or) try to keep a color theme in mind. It's up to you.
■ Now that your pieces are cut start tying all of the pieces together in the order you want them. Use overhand knots tying the tips to one another until you end up with a 'magicians rope' of floss.
(Don't worry if you make the tied string too short because you can always tie more on in the middle of the project. It's easier to work with a shorter length and add more on half way through the project than it is to start off with 4+ feet of knotted strings!)
■ Tie the string onto the ring and start wrapping. If your ring has sharp points (like on a Gatorade ring) then feel free to cover it in a piece of duct tape or some other form of tape. Black works best.
NOTE: It's also best to wrap the tape around the circumference of the ring and then fold it into the center. Make sure you don't have too much overlapping tape. You want it as thin as possible so try to trim the tape so it's only about three times the width of the ring.
After wrapping make two "forward 4 friendship bracelet knots" and secure the knots with a dab of glue. You can use other glue other than super glue I just prefer it because it is a very strong, reliable hold. Fabric glue would also be good since floss is made up of cotton.
Last thing you need is a chain. You are welcome to use a jump ring and chain to fancy it up (or) just use some cord/string to create a "larks head knot" to secure it. (Larks Head Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyzUmetVJFA )
Thanks for watching!
Could you use those colored rings that come off of pill bottles???????

@BuddyClubRae I think any ring would work for the most part so long as they don't have really big 'teeth' on the inner ring.

Would I be able to make this into a dream catcher?

@gingerluck5 Yeah, I'm pretty sure that would work.

@BeyondBracelets okay, so if I turned it into a dream catcher, and i wanted to put a couple of rings together hanging from each other, do you have any idea how i could do that?
gingerluck5 4 days ago
@gingerluck5 I'd probably just use some of the same string I made them with in order to form a loop between them.
