Kel'thuzad does in fact yell at you if you kill the cat.

@fightingfish76 Yes I have heard that in the original Naxx killing Mr. Bigglesworth acted as a trigger for a kind of "heroic" mode, except without better loot.

I used to run with a guild who had the same rule not to kill the cat. They kicked top DPS and everything for it so everytime we ended we killed it after.

i checked on several sites and ran a few runs with and without killin the kitty.. it doesnt do anything one way or another. but its not worth gettin kicked over if people dont want u to kill him

I've heard a lot of stories about why you're not supposed to kill Bigglesworth. Some say that there used to be an Easter Egg in Naxx that was taken out right after it opened in Vanilla WOW where if you killed the cat, Kel'thuzad would one-shot you. Other people say that it's a superstition thing, like not saying 'Macbeth' in a theatre, because it will cause bad luck for your group and you'll wipe on your Undying run because the tree druid DCed in the middle of the Heigan Dance. ;)
