To celebrate the 10TH ANNIVERSARY of the John A. Hartford Foundation's Building Academic Geriatric Nursing Capacity (BAGNC) program we have created a YouTube Video Contest that asks participants to create a short video responding to the prompt: "A Day in the Life of a Gerontological Nurse". The goal is to focus on the growing field of geriatric health care and nursing's role in caring for America's diverse aging population.
REQUIRMENTS:
• Create an original video lasting NO LONGER THAN 2 MINUTES responding to the prompt: "A Day in the Life of a Gerontological Nurse"
• Participants MUST use the phrase "A Day in the Life of a Gerontological Nurse" in their video
• Both INDIVIDUAL and GROUP submissions are ALLOWED. HOWEVER, the group must designate a primary contact person. (ONLY one (1) video per person or group allowed)
• Your video must be your own original work and property and may not contain any commercial copyrighted music or images
• Participants can respond in a personal or scholarly manner, or both. BE CREATIVE! *However, any entry not responding to the prompt "A Day in the Life of a Gerontological Nurse" will be INELIGIBLE for judging
ELIGIBITILY:
• Nurse (RN) or student(s) enrolled in a U.S. School of Nursing program
• 18 years of age or older
• A legal resident of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia
• Employees of the Hartford Foundation or the BAGNC program are not eligible

PRIZE AWARDS
First Place
$1,000.00 cash prize and paid travel & hotel to attend the 2010 Anniversary Leadership Conference where the top three videos will be showcased
Second Place
$500 cash prize along with your video showcased at BAGNC Leadership Conference and on BAGNC website
Third Place
$ 300 cash prize along with your video showcased at BAGNC Leadership Conference and on BAGNC website

NOTE: Participants can respond to the phrase in many ways. Examples include, but are not limited to:
•Why did you choose to be a gerontological nurse?
•What does a day in the life of a gerontological nurse look like to you?

•What is gerontological nursing's role in aging?
•Why is gerontology important?
•Why should the public pay attention to aging issues?
