Here is an on stage view of Daedelus' performance at Hip Kitty Jazz Club. He is using the Monome controller which he helped introduce to the world as (the first?) prototype user.

Here is a perfect fusion of performance and technology - a truly improvisational control interface in the hands of a vertuosic musician!

  • does he have a recorded version of that first song???

  • @rayisyourlover It's a 50's era love song? "Yes I'm Ready - Barbara Mason" I don't know if there is an "official mash up" of it. Really works, though, does't it?

  • its weird the lights are on. tweaks me out a little. the lights need to be off and the stage fully illuminated, with lots of colors.

  • @Bosmato Yes, I'm a VJ, so that's usually my department. ;-) But in this case, I was only observing the show.

  • Beautiful, unique, and so very inspiring! Thank you for posting this.

  • You're welcome! He and the promoters (Smash Cartel*) were very nice to allow me to get this close to the action.

*soon I shall do video projections at one of their shows.

  • "Damn, all this crazy indie music is so hard to keep up with, what with all of the new artists and technology and genre-bending. I think I'll just go to a jazz club instead of my usual venue."

*walks in, sees bit-box, laptop, monome, and MORE crazy-ass new music*

*goes home and cries to a John Coltrane record*

  • anyone know the song that kicks in at around 6:31? that class... all of my hnnng.

  • @bigspin12 the complexity makes it GOOD. ;-) You know you're seeing a true electronic music artist when you see him play. You'll get used to it, and then "normal" music will seem "too simple and boring" ;-)

  • OMG HE PLAYED BURIAL!! Love burial. <3
