Last year, nearly 5 million people were bitten by dogs in the United States, and nearly a million people, more than half of them children, require medical attention for dog bites every year. In this video, Dr. Ron DeHaven, chief executive officer of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), gives some sensible advice from the AVMA about preventing dog bites. He introduces Kelly Voigt, a dog bite victim herself and expert, who explains how to educated children to avoid dog bites.

    just to be safe, dont touch dogs that are not yours. this may sound harsh, but its the truth. and stay away from stranger dogs and dont look at stranger dogs in the eyes.

    This video can be found on the Prevent The Bite website. Select the News tab and scroll down to Preventing Dog Bites Safety Video. You can also order the Educational Presentation Kit which includes a lesson plan, pictures, statistics, coloring pages and more. The curriculum meets national standards of education and is a great educational tool for pediatricians, teachers, veterinarians and parents.

    I think any reporter who does a story on rescue dogs should be REQUIRED to sit down and watch this video before hand!!!!! just saying
