How to Jam and Secure a Knife Bearing Limb: Street Krav Maga II

I think the worst thing about a knife attack is the absolute horror of actually being stabbed: We all prefer our bodies to be hole-less. Thus the first and most important thing to learn here is the mindset - not to be frozen to the ground but to act immediately without fear and explode like a bomb. In such a life or death situation, which I hope nobody here will ever encounter, it's really all or none. No technique is flawless against a knife, but this one certainly seems to be your best bet.

Hi everyone and thank you for the comments. Nobody got stabbed here :-)! This dvd also features spontaneous full contact shocknife drills with the commited non cooperative attackers. As a defender you are NOT going to "dance around" with the attacker but you are immediately going to headbutt, bite and/or strike him. Also, bare hands defense against the blade is your last resort. Avoid, run and/or equlize are your first strategies when you are attacked with any weapon.
All the best,
Branimir

He is such a great instructor, very much looking forward to seeing the whole DVD. I am glad I got to see this, I saw the One against many DVD of Branimir's MOSS system (Multiple Opponent Survival System. Also enjoyed the Krav Maga DVD part I. I had to fortune of training with Branimir for a while. He know's beyond a doubt what he is talking about. People should listen, whither civilian or in a high risk line of work, he can add something to your already existing knowledge. Martijn

@ralucavelicu Doubt is healthy thing ;-). Have you tryed this one in your training? The attackers arm is hold/secured above his wrist, which means that the ability to slash/stab is restricted. Controling wrist only with your hand/s will not work against bigger, stronger person. Blood and/or sweat will make it even more difficult.
Controling the arm with this modified overhook, and shoulder/neck/head with your forearm and counter attacking at same time is not perfect but it works.
All the best.

from where i stand it looks to me that once he attacks you and when you push his shoulder and get his arm secured by yours, he can easily move his wrist( which is free) and stab you, particularly if he has a bigger knife... i mean his wrist is free and literally touching your ribcage in the video and knife is right behind your back...... that makes me doubt this technique.... is there any alternative to this?

@virendra24bangalore Namaste.That’s exactly the essence of the material covered in this dvd. Avoidance/prevention, escaping, equalizing, preemtion (hit first, hit him hard before he even get any weapon in his hand) and in the end (worse case scenario) “neutralization” of the knife wielding attacker empty hands. Close range: jamming-securing the arm and counter attacking (striking, biting, gouging, headbutting, etc.). Long (and sometimes medium) range using you legs for kicking and running away.

sorry about the typo :P

Many experts say that focussing solely on the weapon is fatal. If given planety of chances, your assailant will eventually get one or two through. And once that opens you up, its all a matter ot time. They say, you should try to neutralize the man asap (along with his knife of course).

@Edalb123 Hi Tom,
I hope you will enjoy my new material. The dvd that covers Defenses against and offensive use of the blunt objects (together with improvised weapons section) will be out in February.
Thank you and take care,
Branimir

@Abuazra Hi Branimir
I'll definitely let you know when I get the new series. Are you planning to make any other krav maga DVDs? Perhaps a series for blunt objects like a stick, crowbar? etc.
Thanks and all the best as well
Tom

@ericplloyd lots of possibilities but you know your ass is in a whole different fight when the guy has two knives
Umm... What if he has two knives? It looks to me like he has one arm free, and you have zero arms free...

@ericplloyd Hi, ericplloyd and thank you for your comment. I would imagine a double-knife attack would require a different approach and a different YouTube clip to demonstrate the approach. But I'm no expert.
Please feel free to contact Mr. Tudjan via his website at kravmaganederland nl

@PaladinPress The thing I'm getting at is that any self-respecting knife fighter is going to carry at least one back-up knife, and if he/she finds one of his/her arms free in a clinch, he/she might just reach back and grab it. I'm sure Mr. Tudjan has thought this through, and he probably has some technique that flows from this one that would cover that situation, but in my opinion, in a clinch you should never leave one of your opponent's arms free when both of yours are tied-up.

@ericplloyd Hi ericplloyd, I don't think this drill is concerned with how self-respecting the knife attacker is, ... but rather offering some things you can do to prepare for this situation. The scenarios one can find himself in are endless, (versus one knife, two knives, a knife and a firearm, more than one attacker etc. etc.) and so this particular clip is dealing with a one knife situation.
