Rush - Anthem
from the 1975 release "Fly By NIght"
is the copyrighted property of its honor(s).

This is possibly the most difficult drum cover I have posted. That being said, I know in some spots I make some really goofy faces, but that's what happens when you try to replicate the professor, Neil Peart! It could have been a little cleaner, but overall I am satisfied with it.

Drum set: Mapex m birch

22"x18" bass drum
14"x5.5" Ludwig aluminum snare
10"x8" tom
12"x9" tom
13"x10" tom
16"x16' floor tom

Cymbals: Paiste

14" Alpha medium hi hats
16" Alpha medium crash
18" Alpha medium crash
21" Alpha groove ride
10" 802 splash
18" 802 china

Drum Heads: Remo pinstripe on toms, aquarian super kick on bass, remo coated emperor on snare.

  • This is heavy.

  • @evanch100 "There's that word again; "heavy". Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with the earth's gravitational pull?" - Back to the Future

  • *Sigh* this video made me want to give up drumming because i realized how much better everyone else is at it than me. I will never be as good as you were in this video. Keep up the awesome work btw.

  • @FalconFlurry Dude don't feel that way, this song was hardest song I've ever got down. And other people feel the way you do, including me. When I hear people like Peart solo, I'm just like wow why do I play? We all have things we could improve on, and that's one of the best parts about playing any instrument, there is always room for improvement! : ) and thank you so much for you kind comments, I would like to thank God for the ability he has given me. Wouldn't be anything without him!

  • I've been playing drums for about a year and a half and am no slouch myself (not trying to be cocky) And when i watch drum covers i rarely enjoy them, but this is an exception, DAMN GOOD JOB!!! (By the way how do you do that thing at 4:06?)

  • @speakwordsfoo Thanks man! I appreciate it. At 4:06, I'm playing 16th note triplets between my hands and bd foot. It's hard to fully explain because they are played in a pattern of 4; right left kick kick. I can play the two beats on my one foot with the heal-toe technique. Let me know if that's confusing lol

  • @drumsticks135 Thx man! U made me feel better

  • Been drumming all my life! (42 years old). Neil Peart indisputably is the best rock drummer of his generation (John Bonham being the generation before). This by far is one of the best covers of Neil Peart's brilliance I have ever seen.

  • Excellent drum cover, very good drummer! This song is very hard and u did it perfectly!

I dont get how you can make your drums sound so good. well, you have mics but i hear that they'll sound good without mics aswell. i really suck at tuning so :(

  • hey man.... your playing sounds very good.. especially I like your snare, ride and crashes in this video...

  • Man, if you can cover Neil Peart your gonna go places! Awesome, now cover Tom Sawyer!

  • Ryan Kesler on drums.
