@mrkitanai1 I think Lyoto still practices urine therapy, but fortunately for Marquez, he stopped the practice because his physician and S&C trainer talked some sense into him.
@fresh2def973 I agree with your comments, but there are many ignorant, uneducated people out there. Lyoto Machida and Juan Manuel Marquez started drinking urine, next thing you know many people start drinking their urine.
This nutritional information is just ludicrous. There were so many scientifically unsubstantiated statements made that I'm really quite appalled. I really hope that people don't just accept this as gospel's truth because of what the Gracies have don for BJJ.
@scarred10 It seems common sense to me, avoiding certain combinatons to avoid indigestion. Haven't ever ate two things together that just made you feel ill afterwards? OJ does not seem to combine well with any food for me, even breakfast.
With all the respect in the world I have for the gracie family, I am pretty sure this diet is not really a gracie invention. I heard about yoga ppl doing the same diet and they did not start only 65 yrs ago. I guess it is the same as with BJJ: the ideas (techniques) have been before, they made more or minor changes and presented it successfully to the world. A lot of ppl think they actually did invent the techniques. they didn't. look for kosen judo.
@mindkrak1 carlos senior had no degree in anything, junior may have had bt didnt have any input into the diet ,it was there before he was born. Degrees in nutrition are not degrees in dietetics and so cannot prescribe any diets, you need to be a registered dietitian.Rorion himself himself has said on several occassions that carlos senior was self taught,no formal education. The food combining is bullshit and always has been ,it was around before carlos was born, the foods are healthy
@bigiogi lad, healthy eating makes you feel better,it has zero to do with gracies or food combining or anthing else. Most of what the recommend is healthy, theres nothing special about it or beneficial beyond normal good dietary management. There are no special diets.Rorion has no business offering nutritional advice, its like a dietician teaching bjj .
@scarred10 Dude this is actually a really effective diet, I started the Gracie diet when i started GJJ about 6 months ago, It gives you sooo much more energy during the day and is really healthy, I am not knocking what your saying because he wasnt eductated in nutritional science, all im saying is once you've been on the diet for 6 months like me you know what he means.

I still give them credit for what they did.
