I believe that's a large thermal rotating vortex and you are seeing the visible condensation at altitude dew point. Thermals can curl with horizontal wind shear or even small horizontal variables.

its just a natural vortex with iridescence.and a vortex can be at a 90° angle, just look at a video of a tornado in hodges texas.

@dasaint0 I don't recall purple being one of the colors..Wouldn't there be some precipitation associated with this event. This is not natural. I'd say definitely man made.

The color is just a rainbow effect of the water droplets or icy crystals in the cloud breaking down the sun light. It is not chemicals, persistent contrails have been around for 70 years.
