@clinton699 I've learned how to downshift now depending on the car i have an 02'd GTI tiptronic and theres a slight delay when you shift up or down. In the delay when you shift down you need to keep your foot on the throttle and "pop" it a bit like you would if you were blitzing the throttle but how much to give the gas is the hard part. I'll make a vid of it one day and let you know

@JxPhan Thats what i wanna know too!

@thunderstruck665 it's designed for comfort... now get the manual vs the dsg, the dsg wins... it has been proven :P

I need a new vehicle but will this be able to tow my motorcycle and it's trailer? The combo weighs in at 1100 pounds.

When i want to downshift do i have to keep my foot on the gas?

@mpgomatic There's definitely some laziness when getting an auto and I'd admit that right away. I'd prefer a manual... but with a 4500rpm redline, I'm not so sure I'd want to be shifting myself. Although I know it's torquey.

Hey!! I've got a Jetta. I haven't used the tiptronic mode for a very long time and it got disabled automatically. No idea how to enable it again!! Can anybody help!! Pressing the paddle shifter buttons or moving the gear stick into the tiptronic side doesn't help!!! : (
Tiptronic is so lame! It's just for people who are either too lazy or too scared to grow a pair and learn how to drive stick which is REAL driving.

@thunderstruck665 I've been driving a stick for over thirty years (scary thought that is) and I still look forward to driving review cars with manual transmissions.
The sad truth is that manuals represent an increasingly slim number of the cars sold here in America. This is a nation of lazy drivers.

@mpgomatic Laziness has nothing to do with it. If someone wants to pay the extra thousand or so for the convenience of an automatic, so be it.

@ghrpdx Absolutely nothing? Not one tiny iota of nothingness? Not a microscopic spec? Surely you jest. ;) That said, I'm all for the convenience of a great modern automatic.

@mpgomatic yeah I tried my mother's VW with a tiptronic and it shifts way too slowly for me. it's a disappointment.

@fenix144 Is it a DSG or conventional automatic?
