  • Don't get me wrong, I married an immigrant ---but what's going to happen to American kids who speak English, if teachers main focus is pandering to non-English speakers?

I think more teachers should be hired and VALUED (higher salaries) ...but it's in overall interest of the "powers that be" to reinforce the dumbing down of America. Once again it won't matter to ppl with money. THEY will make damn sure their kids get educated... everyone else **will** be left behind. Welcome to america

  • I have no doubt that some kind of feed back testing is necessary for teachers to perform better, and gauge how well their students are performing, but it should be fair and show relative improvement as well as standardized performance. Also it should be used for growth motivation, rather than punitive deficiency motivation. Years ago I graduated from high school with native students who could not read. I'm not sure how you go through 13 years of school without learning this basic skill.

  • What an incredible move. I'm so grateful to those 50 teachers of the year.
