    Your question is a common one.

    Go to our website to see the anatomy and xrays of an anterior vs posterior dislocation.

    Posterior dislocations are rare and often missed. The humeral head goes POSTERIOR to the glenoid, and often appears to rotate (the lightbulb sign). 95% of dislocations are anterior or anterior-inferior.
