At IDC Directions last March, Frank Gens predicted that 2008's big news in Cloud Computing wouldn't be the "what", but the "who", as the IT industry's "big boots" - including Microsoft and IBM - would finally jump into Cloud Computing. In June, IBM introduced its Blue Business Platform cloud appliance and marketplace offerings; in September it announced the Bluehouse cloud collaboration platform. In October, Microsoft announced its "Windows Cloud" (dubbed Windows Azure). Watch for IDC Predictions in December to see what IDC has to say about the IT market in 2009.
