I knew a guy that once got leprosy but was cured thanks to the treatments that exist today.

why were this people exiled till the 70s when a cure was available for a long time ? I just can't understand it.

this is a great film thx for sharing it. i have just read "the island" a fictional book based around the people of Spinalonga. Its fantastic.
Leprosy has a cure, a course of drugs cures most patients within a year. It costs £21 to cure 1 person of Leprosy, the fact is many countries are too poor to afford this and the disease still has a lot of social stigma attached to it. LEPRA is a charity that cures Leprosy AND educates people, the most important part of curing this disease.
