January 19, 2010 Pickens Canyon debris basin. On Jan 18, this basin was completely empy. I watched this basin fill nearly to the brim in 4 hours today, during a rainstorm. The Station Fire has left our foothills exposed to extreme mud slide conditions. What worries me now is what happens later this week, when the mud continues to come down? Will people downstream have enough warning that the flood control channel is filling up this quickly? This video was taken between Ocean View and Briggs Ave, north of Foothill Blvd.
