Many of you who've lamented the loss of the Thoroughbred in the upper echelon of the showjumping world, might be heartened to see this:
Hap Hansen, guiding the only Thoroughbred in a field of 30, to a very exciting jumpoff win!

Fairway, the aged New Zealand Thoroughbred, often nicknamed "The Good Ol' Master"... shows us that even in the latter years of his competitive reign, he still had ~more~ than what it took to take down the fanciest Warmbloods of his time.

As always, don't forget to check out the crazily-cute baby of the barn:

This round however, is from the 1995 Brookside Classic.
Other jumpoff rounds from this exciting show can be seen performed by Susie Hutchison and America 1:

Also Leslie Steele and Figaro:

And lastly, this was the same class in which Piñon Katja performed her famous "Oxer TwoStep" as well:

  • hes amazingly smooth!

  • GOOOO THOROUGHBREDS! They have the biggest hearts out of any breed of horse. I wish they were used more in Show Jumping like my 2 babies.

    Is she still around?

  • @ImmortalSynn

She was really sweet and Accord was her father. One time I was out on the trail and these people had a camel in their pasture, well I let her stand and look through the gate and I knew the camel was walking right to the gate! When that thing appeared in front of her she spun and took off so fast! It was funny. Very sweet horse.

Crazy. Watching him move, it'd be impossible to guess that he was anything like that! ...any stories about Amerika 7?

  • @ImmortalSynn

I worked hard :) but I rode a lot of nice horses! Developer would kill a person if given the chance, he was a mean stallion but could jump the moon (if he wanted to). Had a halter on him at all times and one year at Indio he slipped out of it and they had to take the tent off and lasou (spelling) him! I used to catch him by grabbing the halter from the outside of the stall for his groom. She called him kitten! The stories I could tell about this horse!

How lucky, that must've been an incredible blessing. I was a fan of all of them, but my faves to watch were Amerika 7 (no question) followed by Pikadero and Fairway.

I was always impressed by Developer's hunter-like form, and Pikadero's incredible ability to get into trouble then get right back outta it. ;)

  • @ImmortalSynn

Well you sure have picked some good ones! I have ridden all of them and Fairway was my favorite.
