Scott Apel's analysis of the first episode of The Prisoner - Arrival. Unfortunately the end is slightly clipped since my recordings didn't capture the entire show. I would very much appreciate getting complete recordings of Scott Apel's commentary.

  • Could somebody let me know how I might be able to get the complete set of Scott Apel's commentary. I will post more episodes if there is enough interest. Unfortunately I don't have all of them and some, like this first episode, have and end trimmed off. Notice this one ends a bit early.

  • The original is the closest that the television medium has ever gotten to art.

  • could you say that in a way Lost has vestiges of the prisoner in its story line?

  • @FastMg42 I second that thought. "The Prisoner" was television's first masterpiece, a hand-crafted work that could only happen in a medium that has time to slowly explore themes, comment on them, while tossing in an idiosyncratic look, attitude, and style. It's so incredibly 60s that it's become timeless. It's like watching that other made-in-the UK export "2001: a Space Odyssey'" and comparing it something by George Lucas. Times change . . .

  • I wonder if you ever got them Cosmobit. I had a full set, when I videotaped them all, while I was in the Bay Area. I would like to see any video of the Prisoner rap from channel 9, when they reran the show in the late 1970s. This fellow from Canada with a ponytail was the most verbose commenter, and I recall he was a big guy in one of the fan clubs

  • the Village - quite similar to Seaside in Destin Florida - used as set for the Truman Show -

  • This guy's episode order leaves alot to be desired so how about THIS theory to put the cat amongst the pigeons...'Once Upon A Time' and 'Fall Out' is a dream and No 6 wakes out of it in the final episode 'Many Happy Returns'! It would offer a bleak but more satisfying finally which was it's original intention as the final episode of a 'first' series. Presumably the leaders were announcing "Evacuate!" while No 6 was asleep and this influenced the President's announcement in 'Fall Out'. BCNU...

  • Wow, very cool. One of the best TV series ever!

  • Why is he so sarcastic all the time?

  • i remember this show omg

  • I loved his intro and commentary!
