@TheChief417 He means unknown for a road car. Dragster, top speed rocket cars are purpose built for that one thing. Special tires with little sidewall support. This did it on tires with sidewall support that can be legally used on the road. A massive difference.

It bothers me the way he kept saying "the unknown" as if nobody had ever gone any faster than 250MPH in anything. Top Fuel Dragsters do those kinds of speeds on a quarter mile strip. The land speed record is 763MPH, (by the same company that made the Aero, just saying), which is faster than the speed of sound. Nothing about this test was "unknown". We knew it was going to go fast. It went fast. The end.

@Sjommis actually, thanks to F1 cars there are cars like the Bugatti Veyron. It's just that F1 cars of today are more concentrated on agility and "more for less" (more performance for less engine size) not pure speed. If the F1 engineers are left to build a machine with no regulations from above... the Bugatti is toast
