  • Derek is not "nuts". He is a thoughtful person who is simply verbalizing his inner meditiations.

It's too bad more people don't back away from the constant bombardment of our senses by the corporate/media culture, and engage in some deep reflection about the world around them. It would do us some good...

  • i could not have said that better myself. Nice

  • Asian guy here, have you considered taking up Hinduism?

  • Organized religion is not for me.

  • I just saw 2012 .. great movie- we just better hope that the mayan calendar, webbots etc are wrong or else we're in for it. this is going to be quite a collapse!

  • I dont want webbot to be wrong for it has change we can count on and I want 2012 movie to be wrong for it was a negative movie not taking into count the consciousness changes that should occur.

  • I agree that the governments use fear and anger to justify sending arrnies in to crush the resistor. And as you inferred how can the "peacekeeping" troops justify using force on those who are not resisting? Even those armies have mothers and brothers and sisters and ethics and morals of some kind which will hopefully cause many of them to ally themselves with those they are being sent out to oppress.

  • I find it distasteful to justify evil by claiming evil must exist in order for good to exist. It is like saying you have to murder someone to know it is wrong to murder someone.

Or it is justified to allow someone to starve so one can enjoy the pleasure of feeding them. To me that would validate the concept of the maltheist who believes god is an evil god because not only does he allow suffering, he demands it.

  • One of the first words that put a red flag up for me was the word "lies". Perhaps, it is simply a different point of view. Much like the story of the blind men and the elephant where the blind man who held the elephants tail and proclaimed an elephant was like a rope, was called a liar by the blind man who held onto the elephants leg and proclaimed an elephant was like a tree. Another called them fools as he leaned against the side of the elephant and knew it was really like a wall.

  • Great Job Derek. I wish I was as insightful as you!

  • continued..........Bhagavad Gita does list the 4 aggressors that can be killed: 1- if one kidnaps ones wife, 2 if one sets ones house on fire etc........

Back to the relatives situation: what the gita is tryin to convey is that: higher truth transcends bodily relations,or even blood relations.one has to submit to the higher truths, even if a relative is a aggressor, they can be killed without karmic reaction.

  • hi slobo from not so sunny guernsey: When searchin BG translations,we want to try to get the most realized versions possible.i know this is highly debatable, but Ac Bhaktivedanta has prob translated more Vedic scriptures then any other person in modern times.

More important to your statement: No one wakes looking to kill, but if an aggressor comes, and he must be killed, then their is no karmic reaction to this killing. The bible kind of overlooks this or does nt expand on it.

  • When I studied the BG in college, the prof had been at the Sri Aurobindo ashram, and favored the Arnold translation. I also like "fight the good fight," which is in no translation I know, but means to me that we actually can and should even kill our own brethren when it's necessary, no matter how horrific this may be. I also follow the Ten Commandments, so this is a tough one for me!!!!!!!

  • Oops I hit post comment too soon.

At 8:10 you said you can't know good or comfort without first knowing the opposite. You got that right! I was suicidally miserable during my time in the army and now that I'm free again and working in a career that I'm actually well suited for (mechanic) I'm happy. I'm one of the happiest people I know at work (even though I'm aware of all the nastiness headed our way).
