Request for Californians to oppose AB 2072 - a bill that amends the CA Newborn Hearing Screening Program to remove Deaf consumer groups from possibility of providing information to families of newly identified Deaf babies and instead have audiologists (not trained in ASL and Deaf culture) provide "free" written information on OPTIONS instead of OPTIMAL LANGUAGE ACQUISITION. AB 2072 is endorsed by California Coalition (Audiologists, OptionSchools such as Oralingua and CCHAT, and others) that have tremendous financial interest in convincing parents to pick THEIR OPTION.
Write letters of OPPOSITION TO AB 2072 ASAP by April 6 (definitely by April 13) to the California Health Committee who will have hearing on April 13 to review this bill. Email to Health Committee Staff Person, Tanya Robinson-Taylor tanya.robinson-taylor@asm.ca.gov or post letter on www.cad1906.org (go to Legislative Action link). Letter will go directly to Tanya Robinson-Taylor.
Copy/Write to your local legislators too. Find their contact information through www.leginfo.ca.gov.
Download information sheet and sample letter from Legislative Action link in CAD1906.org (http://cad1906.org/index.php?pr=California_Legislative_Action!)
Hello Ella, I finally really understand the whole thing after watching your vlog. and I'm curious IF its passed in california...will it carry all over the states or? Eventhough I'm not a californian but yet I'd want to help this out.. Let me know--many thanks.

@cfarrell4 Glad this pretty old vlog still is of some help. There have been a bit of changes since then, but basically the bill is still alive and believe next stop is Senate Health committee. We got a professional lobbyist now and I believe soon the OpposeAB2072 website will be putting up videos and updated messages..prolly this week. Will it spread to other states? Possibly. I think some states ALREADY have that law done without us realizing or even supporting it. Check your state laws.
