@Gutsyndicate the music playing is the national anthem of England. God Save the Queen. What he did was completely crass and unbecoming of a statesman. Perhaps he should learn something from Reagan.

why the fuck would they play England's national anthem when he asks everybody to stand up and raise their glasses? if the band have had started playing earlier then yes it would have been obama's fault. screw protocol, you have to be dumb to start playing national anthem when someone is proposing a toast

@vugaaar Unfortunately, as the Head of State, he cannot "screw protocol." In fact, it's the mutual respect and alliance between countries that makes it relevant to honor such silly tradtitions. Take care to notice that when he rose to propose the toast, no one even reached for their glass. This is because after "To the queen..." the national anthem plays, then the toaster continues the toast once everyone picks up their glasses. If he wasn't so buried in the note cards he would have noticed.
