Hi
Sorry, I havent posted videos in a while two months ago I was finally hired; so I didnt have much free time.
This song is the Russian interpretation of Belle from Notre Dame de Paris. When a musical was planned in Russia, a contest was announced for best lyrics. A 14 year old girl wrote what was to become one of Russias greatest hits.
Perhaps, the success of the song wasnt entirely on its merits. A shock campaign on the Central radio channel had this song played every 15 minutes, permanently implanting it into consciousness of every Russian with radio access.
Performing some variation of these lyrics, then, became a mandatory component of any comic routine.
Still, the song is pretty good, and the music video really does it justice.
Enjoy

  • surely another nice version.

but i think "pass my finger throught her hair" has stronger love than " a night with you"

  • @moroguz1980

Considering that none of the 3 had a working concept of "love", you can let this one slide.

  • A 14-year-old wrote this? I'm impressed. It has a much dreamier quality than the original (perhaps due to the author's age), but very beautiful nonetheless. Thanks for the translation!

  • haha the russian version how sweet

    I love russian (l)

  • This is great, and in my opinion, what a translation of a musical should do: get the gist of a song and rewrite it in a way that fits the new language. I feel like the English version seemed to take each verse individually and try to make the translations line up, which led to some very awkward phrasing, rather than taking the song as a whole and creating something new in the same spirit as the original.

  • @moroguz1980 This song is not about love, but desire. And the three of them wanted much more than just passing their fingers through her hair...

  • lol fleur-de-lys is still the same.... so it still incorporates french

  • @NLYNETTEP1 I know I thought that it was for a while then i thought, hey think she only speaks english, but i could be wrong

  • @moroguz1980 French version was better cause it had a different ending line 4 each character. Like 4 Quasimodo - "pass my fingers through Esmeralda's hair", 4 Frollo - "open the door in2 Esmeralda's garden", & 4 Phoebus - "pluck the flower of Esmeralda's love", which is logical, cause only Quasimodo's feelings r platonic, whereas the other mens' r physical. & the Russian version makes them all equal, which is not very correct. So I agree.

  • Does anyone else think that the girl in this looks an awful lot like demi lavato?

  • aye, this is definetely more passionate than the french one, but i cant choose. both are exquisite. with the risk of sounding childish, i think the russian esmeralda shouldn't have smiled so much. the wide smile isn't exactly in character. great piece, though!

  • the french one sounds SO much gentler and lyrical than the russian one

but its pretty clear that the passion is stronger in this one
