I honestly don't think Kim's son will take the reigns. There will be a major change in the leadership after Jong Il dies. What will happen is that they will get a person who will adopt a Chinese-style economic plan. I'm certain the Chinese will see to that. They are getting fed up with the current leadership's antics.

North Korea is no longer an actual socialist country. You cannot call yourself "socialist" or "communist" by creating a family dynasty ruling the country. North Korea is if anything a fiefdom. The Kim family rule like the lords and the people are the serfs. Not too mention the North Korean leaders are making their people starve and suffer greatly. Do you call that socialism? Absolutely not!
