@WebVMan Yeah, the Sega Saturn port of Virtua Fighter was obviously rushed. They thankfully made up for that with their excellent port of Virtua Fighter 2.

@ApharmdStriker saturn would'ce been a contender anyway but with 2 consoles being released at the same time (saturn and psx) sega assumed that its fanbase garnered from the megadrive would loyally follow. but during a time of the bbit wars when you could have a 32 bit system for £300 or £400....most spent lower...sadly

@ApharmdStriker Yeah and also not spent millions on developing the Mega CD and 32X and saved it for Saturn development. Then they could have launched the Dreamcast a few years later than originally launched say mid 2001 with yet even more power and a DVD drive and the VMU'S rechargable as well as being backward compatible with Sega Saturn games.

Sega desperately wanted their system first on the market, since at the time it was significantly more expensive than the PS1. So they had a surprise launch, several months ahead of the original schedule. But it was only at select retailers and had only two games (rush jobs of VF and Daytona). So early adopters were pissed because they had nothing to play for months, and retailers were pissed because Sega gave no warning. The whole thing just came off very badly.

If I recall correctly, the only Saturn VF port that was arcade perfect was VF Kids, and that was because the game was basically developed on Saturn hardware anyway. (I believe it was called the "Titan" board)

it has less contrast on the ground though
Model 1 (Arcade) - Fingers
Saturn - Mittens / Gloves
32X - Blocks
