In "Animatus" the Korean artist executes a deep detailed anatomy research on non-existing animals. The result is a strange resemblance with famous cartoons characters, creating an uncanny illusion of their real physicality.
In "The Objectuals" Lee designed bizarre acrylic devices to distort a and disfigure the body of the user, be it by lenses or by pressure enlargement.
The skull with the big eye holes, I believe, belongs to Felix the Cat.

After reading your comment I looked again and the eye holes look too large to be a Charlie brown character.

I'm proud that Lee eventually became a sucessful artist. I've lived with him for a year as a roommate. I saw some of his art pieces back then, and they were interesting and humorous. Not losing his sense of humor and professionalism even when surroundings are pursuasive to reality made him as an sucessful artist. That's great.

This is such great work. Funny, serious, interesting. South Korea should be proud. They will have a great showing at the Venice Biennale.
