Highlights from the little-seen animation based on original book illustrations. Some startling work from the man who would go on to do roger rabbit and the Theif and the Cobbler

  • Original uploader Torgotom here - I am re-uploading to take advantage of higher quality youtube options - will post link here.

  • Can you believe all this was done by hand?

Robert Zemeckis is such an idiot if he thinks that awful mo-cap process is better than this.

  • Amen to that!! Oh, and Zemeckis was smart enough to add blows to the nuts, something that amatuer Dickens failed to include!!

  • Damned scariest version --- saw this in the '70's as a kid, but I can look at it now in wonder (if in a slight cringe!) Marley's mouth freaked the heck out of me!

  • Oh, me too - this is the only version that ever seemed to me more than a fable. There is real horror in all 3 ghosts, and a genuine sense of death in the air. As a kid, I think I was just dumbfounded; when it came around again when I was 22, I taped it and never let it out of my hands. Someday I hope it will be resurrected. Mr Magoo this ain't,.

  • Could you repost the full length link? I can't seem to find it Thank you Thank you! This is fabulous!

  • Sorry, I wasn't the poster of the full version. It may have been removed due to Google's cleansing of YouTube copyrighted material?

  • A genius work of animation, and as great a version of a Christmas Carol as any other.

  • I remember watching this on a local station, on a bleak, cold, windy Christmas afternoon, with wind-torn gray clouds overhead. I was just a kid but I was blown away by the quality of the animation and the dreamlike and often nightmarish feel of it all. That bit with the phantom hearse going up the stairs gave me the shudders! I found a DVD of this on Ebay and have treasured it ever since.

  • @Turtleheart Heh, I need to re-read me a book then!

  • @JaniceGhostHunter13 It is right; it's there in the original text.

  • I like the music on this motion picture who know it´s name. I want to know it please. It's is very cute and inspired me.

  • Alastair is another Scrooge?! This is just too good!

  • The full movie is here! video.google.com / videoplay ? docid = -8817517652455175582#

  • i am selling a vhs copy of this on ebay if anyone is interested

  • I have been searching for this since I was a child, this is the version that I remember watching as a child. Truly frightening.

  • Oh man! I saw this cartoon when I was a kid...I think I was about 8, and it scared the hell out of me out back then. It was the most eeriest cartoons I'd ever seen at that time. It's nice to see it again. I think they didn't show it anymore because it upset alot of kids, and parents because it is disturbing, but cool just the same. Very well done, and happy to have seen it again, after all these years!
