This is my 2nd gold coin from my 3 week trip to the UK. 1871 Victoria Sovereign.
It has a couple dings on the rim from the plow, but man was she pretty shining up from the dirt!

Good luck! cant wait to see your hand shaking when you do!

  • wow! how did that get there do you reckon and why would they be carrying it?

  • @Ringo853 These are all plowed fields, who knows. Paying a crop picker, collectiong for crops sold, town picnic, just some one having a romp with his girlfriend. LOL

  • Very nice Ron. Congrats on a beautiful gold coin. The British tourism board should pay you. Your videos got a bunch of guys chomping at the bit trying to figure out how we can get over there too!!

  • @Daddydigger1 Thanks DD. Just call me I'll get you there!

  • Oh woah stunning!!!!! Want to get my hands on one of those!!

  • Sweet!

You got the best metal detecting vids on YouTube.

I'm getting myself a Tesoro Cibola in 2 weeks because of watching them.

My goal is to find one of them Celtic gold staters you find in another vid.

    Happy hunting.

  • what an amazing coin! wow I love that design on the back of the coin

  • I got one from 1902.... is that rare?

  • very strange.,

  • Any mintmark on that Ron? All of the 1871 St George & Dragon Sovereigns were minted in Sydney from Australian Gold. There should be a small 'S' below Victoria's head.

  • Were people in that day and age, actually walking around with coins like that, and spending them like any other money?
