  • yes it's a beercan

  • I am getting this lens tommorow on my a-300

    I cant wait...

Any good story's about the lens maybe..?

    Greets

  • i can only say...this is a very good lens

every minolta/sony alpha user "must have" item

  • Minolta AF lens used "Alpha mount"

It's just same with Sony's alpha mount

Therefore you can put it directly into the camera without any adapter.

I don't use filters on any of my lenses.

  • @Gimp1203 I picked up a BeerCan in good condition on eBay for 84 quid this morning. Must have been more lucky than anything as they seem to go for about £120-150?

Do you use yours with a filter, if so what kind?

Not over-rated, can't think of anywhere you can get a 70-210mm f4 for less that 100 quid. Mine is SHARP. I am constantly amazed at how well it performs. You are correct about CA, but you get CA on many lenses at long focal lengths.

  • @whiskynwhisky its not overrated because this lens is 25 yrs old. Find something better that old (70-200 f)4 from other companies; you wont.

  • F4 or F4,5 for amateur photographer?

i have A230 and kit lens

  • @MrBeunhaas Its a bit like a right of passage for a minolta/sony user

Its not the best lens ever but its one that every one shuld own if they want to be a part of the a mount family

I got my beercan before i knew what it was and I got it as a stop gap untill I could find a newer lens to add to my kit. when I went into a shop and tested some new budget 70-200/300s and was just about to buy one before I decided to compare it to my beercan I was blown away by the IQ of this old cheap lens

  • I have the manual focus MD-mount version of this lens.... fantastic piece of glass IMO, especially considering it was introduced back in 1981. (It has the same optical formula as the beercan)

  • 70-135 mm the focus speed should be great.

But if it go to 210mm, the focus speed will slow down
