  • Can you recommend a free stereo enhancer plugin?

  • @grummelgnom Check out the "Stereo Enhancer" of this page: braindoc.de/english/vstEn.html

  • cool, actually much better than expected

    but nothing beats actual doubletracking

  • @guitarDouchebaggery I totally agree with you. this is a cool technique when there is an (unacceptable) reason that you cant record twice.

  • @MixingTipsOrg ; like when you are improvising, x example?

  • @diazconias when improvising you dont record , so there is no problem. when you know what you have to record you record it twice ;)

  • Or... You could add subtle pitch modulation, flutter/wobble, and amplitude variations to simulate the double tracking. As posted before, doubling is much more effective. This duplicating and delaying thing just sounds like one big mono. But if time & pitch modulation is added to the mix, then the effect is much more desirable and closer to doubling. I use this often in lo budget productions, where the talent just doesn't have the $ to cover the extra time to cover the extra takes.

  • Sometimes over doubling can hurt the mix or the master in terms of phase issues. That's why always check your phases using either a phase meter, vector-scope oscilloscope or a correlation meter. Just to make sure the music will translate regardless of the medium. My 2 cents :)
