When George Romney, father of conservative Presidential candidate Mitt, ran American Motors, he wanted it be a conservative (no surprise) sensible company that built low-cost, fuel efficient small cars. Well, by the 1970s no one wanted those so the failing company jumped onto the Muscle Car bandwagon with the AMX.

  • @levileviivelivel I LIKE YOUR TASTE!!!

  • @AndyJrad0323 That's just how far the speedometer went -- it was probably done in anticipation of the 1979 law requiring reduced read out speedometers to lower driving speeds. I read somewhere that the top speed, with the 258, was around 104 mph, pretty fast by any standard!

  • KlassiK Krapola of the US auto industry. DEEEEEEEEPressing

  • lovin the 70's music idk about the car though

  • I used to have an inline 258 engine. I would never have challenged anyone to a race unless they were on a bicycle.

  • God awful ugly cars.

  • Cool commercial, gotta say, 1974 AMX Javelin 401 Big Block coolest possible car anyone could ever have, period.

  • cool commercial. thank for sharing.
