I had no idea this was live until I heard clapping at the end. For a second I was surprised but then I thought, hold up this is Regina Spektor we're talking about of course she's this good live!
This song is about Ezra Pound who was an Anti-Semitic poet. In the song borrows a "pound of flesh" which that term was derived from the Shakespeare play Merchant of Venice. In the play Shylock was the Jewish merchant that demanded a pound of flesh from Antonio who could not pay his debt. The irony in the song is when Ezra asks "you" for a pound of flesh, like Antonio asked Shylock for money. Such a great song.

@AnthonyMinsky Seriously, she's one of the few artists today whose music actually challenges your mind without failing to entertain you. And the best part is that she's not the slightest bit pretentious about it.
