Do like the concept. I have always had a liking to the airship design what a great way to transport real heavy loads that ordinary aircraft can lift. Also have always thought of an Airship cruise liner like the old zeppelins but larger with technology today

This looks fascinating! Is there anywhere I can go for more information, like design specifications, materials, etc.

What is it made of (or will be made of)?
How much weight can it carry?
How much does it weigh (minus helium)?
How much helium does it use?
How did you prevent leaks?
How does it fly in crosswinds?
Are you pursuing building it?
So many questions...

Dare I ask what happens if this ship flies under a cloud?

it keeps flying on battery power. When the battery drains a bio-diesel generator kicks in. When the bio-diesel runs out it will not crash but rather glide down gently, much slower then an ordinary jet would

Lol @ the idea of a solar panel producing enough energy to create enough lift to even lift itself, let alone a gigantic "boat".

don't forget that in contrast to modern aircraft in this type of "hybrid airship" the lift is generated mostly by lighter-than-air gas. The solar panels only provide the forward thrust, and additional lift is generated by the wings.

The idea is that it floats like a zeppelin (filled with helium, or something else that is lighter than air).

the solar panals dont produce the power to the motors but to the batterys that power the motor

I think you might also be interested in a video clip here on youtube ? type in Dornier superwal flying boat 1926 see what you think ?

combining aerostatic and aerodynamic features to achieve lift . Very nice design . Ive read some about such systems there was the goodyear " inflatobird " which basically looked like a small airplane but an inflatable one with helium of course . And then there was the Aeron 26 which was a delta shaped small airship that used heated helium and its aerodynamics to achieve lift . If i remember correctly the aeron 26 managed to get to 105,000 ft altitude ? the pilot had to wear a spacesuit.
