I want to achieve the same sound with my A6 4.2 when the throttle is to the floor, but would like it to be quieter at idle and low load situations. Any suggestions for achieving this?

so you still ahve the resonator or middle suitcase muffler in this? I have a 2001 A6 4.2 and I just ordered two magnaflow mufflers but I'm trying to decide if I should keep the middle resonator or ditch it

The key to the sound on my car was having six resonators, three on each side. Four were stock, then I cut off the rear muffler and replaced it with the resonated tips. If you have less resonators it will not sound the same.
