I talk a little about The Crystal Chard by R.A. Salvatore and The Laughing Corpse by Laurell K. Hamilton.

4th book in the Legend of Drizzt
preface:I have yet only read the book once.

1/10 scale, 10 being Godly, 8 being Good, 5 is the dividing line, 5 is readable, 4 is I regret reading it, and 3 or less is how much I hated it.

Pros:
-Segmented events follow a more realistic progress towards conflict resolution than most fantasy novels.
-I really like the setting of Icewind. Dale
-Liked Errtu, Aegis Fang, and Ingeloakastimizlian.

Cons:
-Drizzt's character development was nil, almost to the point where you question his character's consistancy.
-The characters are alright but I hate how the character development is directly linked to the plot. That they all would be nothing and shallow people if they didn't need to battle orcs and make friends.
-The whole idea that the hero will triumph over evil because his tolerance and dedication to friendship through adversity is something more suited to sesame street.

2nd book in the Vampire Hunter series.

Pros:
-Really liked the fact that although Vampires where not the focus of the story Hamilton connected Anita with the Vampire Jean-Claude to give the novel an arch effect.
-Liked Dominga Salvador and the addition of voodoo in setting
-Easy read, good pace, a simple adventure.
-humor

Cons:
-Harold Gaynor was just not developed enough. I found that I basically ignored his impact in the book.
-The blunt statements at the end of chapter. If you want your character to be a bad ass, keep it in the dialog, and thoughts but end your chapters with description, or introspection, not attitude.
-Abrupt ending. I kept looking at the last 10 pages thinking... how is she going to wrap this up in time. No Epilogue, or in the meantime. Really could have drawn out the final confrontation, rather just end it in 3 paragraphs.

Just a little info for you: the Icewind Dale trilogy books were the first books Salvatore wrote in the series. Homeland, Exile and Sojourn were written afterward but take place earlier in the timeline, and have been marketed as the beginning of the series.

@greendr7 Yeah I just recently found this out, and it makes a lot of sense why I sometimes have problems figuring out the books from a chronological point of view. I haven't yet picked up the next book from the icewind dale triology because of this difference as I like my trilogies to be of the same publication... just from an aesthetic perspective.

You seem very pleasant and well-learned, sir, but I don't feel as though I know anything about any of the books you read. I don't expect you to give a plot synopsis, that would be silly, but perhaps at least read the blurb on the back? @TtheWriter Yeah, that's a good suggestion. I haven't made many vids lately but when I start making more book reviews, I'll read the blurb on the back and I'll say whether I think the blurb on the back portrays the premise of the plot accurately.

Hey, I'm thinking of starting a similar book review/general talkage series (any genre)...so its nice to see that other people r doing stuff like this as well. I think that that as long as u enjoy what you are doing that's all that counts. Kudos 2 you 4 just doing something that really interests you. P.s have you read the Wheel of Time Series by Robert Jordan?

I have read all the books except for book 11.

This is because I tend to reread books if I haven't read the series in a while. So when book 9 came out, I reread 1-8 then 9. When book 10 came out, I reread books 1-9 then I read book 10.

After that, I just decided to wait until the series was finished, mostly because the story lags a little in books 6-9. So I'll read it again but after whats-his-name finishes the story that Jordan didn't before he died.

I'd love to hear your review on books.

Drizzt develops in the first three books genius. and does a little more each book. read the passages where its Drizzt narrating. he even explains it.

i agree completly with your review. i enjoy salvatore just not a huggggee fan i guess. i really enjoy entreri's character for some reason. nice review man.

the forgotten realms is a dungeons and dragons campaign setting. just look it up in wikipedia

This review really helped me find out about about this series of books. I havent read a fiction book in 15 years, so I'd like to start from homeland all the way through the series. I wouldnt have known to start at homeland if it wasnt for this great review. What I personally need to find out is, what the titles of all the books are & what order I should read them in. All I know is that the 1st book is homeland & that the icewind dale trilogy comes exists. Anyone know the series list in order?
