After the Rich Rod fiasco people tend to forget that Michigan was a legit MNC contender at that point. It would be like if Alabama lost to a Div. II school today.

@smammy08 Idiot. Re-read it. We're talking about App. St.'s FG with 30 seconds left, not Michigan's. App. State kicked a FG with 30 seconds left on 1st down. They should have run a play, spiked it with like 3 seconds left, and kicked the FG on 3rd down. It worked out for them, but wasn't very smart. Learn what the hell you're talking about before you call anyone dumb.

@LegMDend true BUT you take the chances you have when you have them. maybe they run the ball, get dropped behind the line and THEN try and kick it but miss it cause theyre farther back. OR they run it, the ball gets stripped and they lose that way. tell your kicker he's gonna be a legend if he makes that kick and the ladies will flock to him for life on campus, and let him do his job.

@LegMDend not with 6 seconds left. the app st players woulda stayed ontop of the RB as long as they could have. 6 seconds is literally 1 play running or passing. they would have ran it, got nowhere and had no time left to try a FG. that was a dumb remark on your part.

@vidwick NO it wouldn't. You could easily run a running play, then get up and spike it with 3 seconds left. THEN kick the FG. Kicking it with 30 seconds left was stupid. They were lucky to block that FG. They definitely should have run all the time off before kicking that FG.

Whats weird is Appy State beat a team that wore Michigan's same exact uniform in the championship that year.
