It's pretty straight forward, really. When Namine asked Sora to choose between her and Kairi, Sora chose Kairi. Out of jealousy and hatred, Namine sought vengeance and used her powers to kill the girl who had stolen the man of her affections. Sora, arriving too late, only witnesses the death of the girl he loved.
