He actually gave up music at one point because of it, his teacher hassled him so much. At the age of 27 after seeing wynton and talking to him after backstage he was convinced that however he played, if it worked it shouldn't matter. Every trumpet player is different, and most are off centre to some degree.

I heard her too on NPR and was interested in seeing her perform. Very strong, unique and anti-main stream. Natural and selfless best describes her voice and style.

She's singing with broken English and a very strong accent. I've only heard this one song in English, and one song in Spanish in an article on NPR.org 's website. She's not channeling anyone or trying to sound like anyone. That is her voice. And whether she knows the words to that song or not, she was singing from her soul.
