The reQuests (Singapore) - Shanty

The ReQUESTS from Singapore playing "Shanty" at the launching of Henry Chua's book "Call It Shanty!" on Sept. 28, 2001.

The line-up here: Henry Chua (lead guitar), Lim Wee Guan (drums), Raymond Leong (rhythm guitar) and Tan Beng Hoe (bass guitar).

Raymond Leong, Henry Chua and Lim Wee Guan were three of the original members of The Quests band in the early 60's. With a few line-up variations, The Quests released many hit records during the decade and became the most popular band in the history of Singapore Pop Music.

Henry played the bass guitar when he was with The Quests. He was also the composer of The Quests' first hit, "Shanty," the first local original composition to hit #1 on the Singapore hits charts, in 1964.
