Been listenteing to them since about 1970! I saw Robin Williamson perform a solo gig in Aberdeen many many years ago and he changed the lyric in the first verse to..For those who died on either side, in Belfast or the streets of Derry. Beautiful song.

I understood the original text was 'To those who died on either side/ In streets of Belfast and of Derry'. I like the actual, more general text better. On the other hand, what was going on in Belfast and Derry when this song was written WAS horrible.

Thank's for that Tj. I would never have associated this song with the "troubles" had you not mentioned it, but whatever its origins the song fits well to both scenarios.
