I made this video to show a friend how to remove a ribbon and put a new ribbon into a manual typewriter. Most typewriters use a ribbon assembly that is more or less the same. This was done on a 1960's Olympia desktop.

  • Thank you so much!!! You made my xmas, I bought a typewriter as a present and I though I was not being able to change it properly :)

  • @NanaBoresa No problem!

  • Hello,

Can you tell me how many characters/pages I can write with a ribbon (let's say a 'normal' ribbon). I use an Olivetti leterra 32 and I read that one ribbon corresponded to 5.000 characters, which seems to be rather low. I expected something like at least fifty pages.

    Thanks,

  • @cleofida1 I've used single ribbons for 300 - 500 pages

  • Thank you so much for posting this video. Thanks to you I figured out why my ribbon kept slipping out of the carrier and now I can write letters again. Much obliged.
