Download The Decca Audition Tapes Remastered By Me!

For the 49th Anniversary of The Beatles doing an Audition to Decca, now Remastered.

"Like Dreamers Do" is a song written by Paul McCartney in 1957. It was performed by the Beatles at their unsuccessful 1962 audition for Decca Records. In 1964 the track was recorded by The Applejacks. This was the first commercial release of the song. The single's music director was Mike Leander. It reached #20 on the UK Singles Chart.
The Beatles version was later released on Anthology 1. Like all the other songs performed at the Decca and EMI auditions, it features Pete Best on drums.
McCartney wasn't fond of the song and considered it a throwaway.
Recordings of "Like Dreamers Do" as the Beatles may have performed it are available on the 1989 album by Bas Muys entitled Secret Songs: Lennon & McCartney and on the 1998 release It's Four You by the Australian tribute band The Beatnix.

OPINION:
Like Dreamers Do, it's a beautiful track, McCartney bad-Elvis imitation may be good for this song, along with a catchy rhythm of the guitars, and one of the very few good drummings of Pete Best.

  • Thanks bud..I totally agree with you 100%. If Pete Best was a shitty drummer like some say, then the Beatles would have never played with him in the first place.. It's just that I consider Ringo to be possibly the best drummer in the world and definitely PERFECT for the Beatles at the time.. Quoting John Lennon: "Pete Best was a drummer; Ringo Starr is a Beatle."

  • TheShitsinger, Yup, Lennon was and it's right.

  • I'd never seen this picture of Pete Best before. Pete DOES do some pretty good drumming here.. (Unlike on the fairly recent discovery of Pete's drumming on, "Love me do" with the Beatles in 1962 where he changes tempo in the middle of the song & then switches back again.. YIKES!!).. Paul McCartney's singing does sound like Elvis and even a little like Paul Anka too and words "Waiting for the bliss." are groovy along with guitars at the intro & end that sound like DEVO! Thanks for the download!!

  • TheShitsinger, no problem, and, as I said before, Pete was a great drummer, indeed he did very great drumming in some songs here and when they were with Tony Sheridan. But he wasn't a Beatle.

  • whos that othr guy wit them? :O

  • DrugdPdestrian, Pete Best? The original drummer of The Beatles before Ringo? You should see Anthology to see the Beatles history.
