SANFL Sturt V Port 1983, Unley Oval. Rick Davies kicks 11 goals and Port are thrashed by the likes of Paynter (36 disposals), Craig, Derrington, Howard, Motley, Fielke, Fry and Wilson (among others).
The last Time i was down at Alberton there were port official's with tins. on them that said " Save our club........ we have no money"........... my my my how times have changed................
i also was at this game good to see eddie fry and peter motley i,ve been looking for peter motley at carlton he played 19 games before his accident but i can,t find anything
Ha! Sturt in 83! Looked good during the minor round but typical Sturt choked in the finals. West Adelaide towled them up in the Grand final! Sturt went into hibernation for 14 years after 83 collecting 7 straight wooden spoons!
Just how brilliant is that last peice of running play? Eddie Fry just keeps going and the handballing is so reminiscent of the Oatey style of game. Halbert had this team performing at their peak around this time.
Huppitz did his Dad Ray play for Collingwood ?

Was this Sturt's highlight of the 1980's? Because Port's highlight was 4 premierships.
