M Zuhdi Jasser, M.D. on Muslim Ideology

The son of Muslim-Syrian immigrants, Dr. M Zuhdi Jasser graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin on a U.S. Navy scholarship in 1992. He practices internal medicine and nuclear cardiology in Phoenix where he previously served as President of the Arizona Medical Association. He also chairs the Bioethics Committee for Banner Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. Dr. Jasser co-founded the American Islamic Forum for Democracy to articulate the freedom of thought and religious practice American Muslims enjoy.

If you attempt to fix Islamic law, you are attempting to fix the Quran, and that is a recipe for disaster. Christians changed the meaning of the bible to a point where the book is considered a joke by Christians themselves. The Quran has been preserved by the Muslims through daily recitation and memorization, and their interpretations of the law have remained consistent since the beginning. Zuhdi Jasser wants to reform Islam, but he should look at what reformation did to jews and christians.

you are not able to represent islam. for muslims kuran is Gods eternal word and cannot be changed. Moral code in in islam is twisted and corrupted. muhamed single handed beheaded six to nine hundred male jews. it became paradigma for future muslims. this only a small part of all bad things in islam. islam is wrong itself.

and have no place to run or anyway to escape their own country and until we can experience 30 and 40% unemployment - my people will NEVER NEVER appreciate the oppressed people's plight. In spite of the real potential threat the Egyptian crisis presents to us, I cannot find ANYONE who is paying attention to what is going on. Dr Jasser, I just heard you on Fox and I agree with you completely. My husband is Moroccan and, as an American who has spent a lot of time in Morocco (which is probably the lesser of most of the evils in N Africa) I want to tell you something you already know...until an American knows what it is to have an empty stomach (and I mean really empty) and not knowing where the next crumb from; until our people understand what it is to be terrified in your own country.....

My dear friend Dr. Jasser, you seem like a very good hearted man. I will not dwell a lot into Islam but will ask you this question. You know everyone gets his faith from the founder of the faith, so my question is. Knowing the prophet of Islam killed, invaded and stole, took many women, even a 9 year old girl, and slept with a dead woman, and justified all that. How can that man be a man of God? My friend this is the problem to realize that Islam is not a faith of God! Please respond to me Dr.

Clearly, a high percentage of Muslims are non-violent, and Dr. Jasser provides some insight as to why this is the case. All sacred texts of all religions contain concepts that are timeless, but also some components that were more relevant in ancient times than today. In modern times, violence is not going achieve any religious purpose. The crusades ended many centuries ago. Is there a chapter of the Qur'an that explains how to "spin down" the jihad when nobody is providing opposition?

The Qur'an states in 2.216 - War is decreed to you, and it is hated by you. And perhaps you may hate something and it is good for you...

Mohammed said: I have been commanded to engage in war against people till they testify to the fact that there is no god but Allah, and believe in me (that) I am the messenger of Allah.

Dr. Jasser and others, Please read the Qur'an so that you know the truth about Islam.

Dr. Jasser is a reasonable man who is trying to make his religion more humane and civilized and less violent.

Unfortunately he reminds me of Mikhail Gorbachev who tried to reform communism.

The communist system left no room for reform, which of course is why his efforts failed.

I see many similarities between Communism and Islam, and I no not think that Islam can be reformed anymore then Communism could.

I hope that I am wrong and I certainly wish Dr Jasser well.

But i am not optimistic.

Dr. Jasser is a very smart and educated person he should do some serious research about Islam and he will discover that Islam was morp out of Xtianity. Without the Bible there would be no Islam. Mohammed was influence with the one God of the Bible and when he saw Arabians had many gods he took it his mission to change that, in the process of it Islam was created.
