Looks like he severed its spine, thats plenty enough to defeat a rat ogre. THough in all fairness, the beast masters of clan moulder have various techniques for making their rat ogres harder to kill, one technique being surgicly reloacting vital organs to avoid critical hits on said organs, or to add some protective material inside and outside the ogres skeleton to further protect said area's.
