Congressman Brian Bilbray is interviewed by Byron Harris of Dallas' WFAA regarding airline mechanics who cannot read or write English. The FAA certified airline mechanics must be able to understand English, yet are allowed to certify the work of other mechanics who cannot understand English. In cases where one certified mechanic is certifying the work of many other non-certified mechanics, safety is what can be lost in translation. Congressman Bilbray was joined recently by other members of the U.S. House of Representatives in sending a letter to Obama's Secretary of Transportation to look into the matter.
