it not supposed to be funny for turk XD just funny for the audience. turk decided to not believe in god because for him this is tragic. besides that is such a minor part in the story, and the only purpose for laverne to be religious is to allow for some satirical jokes, without her there would be no point in mentioning god and jesus in the story (even though we dont really need religious references in scrubs to make it funny)
